چکیده

The vast growing market for borehole heat exchangers (BHE’s) requires great efforts of quality assurance in design and construction. Within a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology a consortium consisting of the University of Applied Sciences at Biberach (UASB), the University of Karlsruhe (EIFER, GI) and the Bavarian Centre of Applied Energy Research (ZAE Bayern) is investigating subjects related to quality management of BHE’s. For proper design of BHE’s reliable data on thermal properties of the underground determined by the Thermal Response Test are essential. New measurement techniques and improved evaluation models are developed. The design tool GEOSYST developed by (UASB) which considers the whole system, the building as well as the ground source in one step will be enhanced further and validated. Borehole grouting is an important issue from the environmental point of view. The sealing properties of different grouting materials are investigated under realistic operating conditions.

Literature Review on the Calculation of Vertical Ground Heat Exchangers for Geothermal Heat Pump Systems

The calculation of Ground Heat Exchanger (GHE) performance is very important for predicting the performance and estimating the initial cost of geothermal heat pump systems. In North America it is estimated that on average GHE are oversized by about 10% ~ 30%. A vertical Ground Heat Exchanger (VGHE) is most common because of its smaller environmental influence and land field requirement. This pa...

Thermal Performance of Borehole Heat Exchangers

An important issue in the design of systems using borehole heat exchangers is to find costeffective methods to construct the borehole heat exchanger so that heat can be injected or extracted from the ground without excessive temperature differences between the heat carrier fluid and the surrounding ground. This paper presents an overview of experiences and current activities in this field.

Improvement Of Thermal Conductivity Of Grout Mixture For Geothermal Heat Pump Systems

A vertical geothermal probe consists of two or four polyethylene tubes U-shaped, used for circulating the coolant between the heat pump and the ground. It is installed in a deep borehole and sealed in a special grout, a kind of liquid cement, used to seal the borehole, and avoid the presence of air bags between the probe and the ground. Moreover, the grout provides a heat transfer medium betwee...

An extended two-dimensional borehole heat exchanger model for simulation of short and medium timescale thermal response

Common approaches to the simulation of Borehole Heat Exchangers (BHEs) assume heat transfer in circulating fluid and grout to be in a quasi-steady state and ignore fluctuations in fluid temperature due to transport of the fluid around the U-tube loop. Such effects have been shown to have an impact on peak temperatures and hence operation of heat pumps systems when short time scales are consider...

Analysis of ground heat exchanger for a ground source heat pump: A study of an existing system to find optimal borehole length to enhance the coefficient of performance

Ground Source Heat Hump is one of the emerging technic to utilize the reservoir of geothermal energy in Europe. The crucial factor is to find the optimal length of the borehole to successfully design a heating system. The length of the borehole varies depending on the geographical area, the capacity of the heat pump and heat load of the desired building in consideration. Several methods have be...
